King Jaja of Opobo (full name: Jubo Jubogha; c.
Biography of king jaja of opobo
1821–1891) was the founder and first king (amanyanabo) of the Opobo Kingdom in present-day Rivers State and Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. Originally belonging to the Igbo ethnicity,[1][2] he was initiated into the Ijaw people during his time in Bonny.
Life and career
In his youth, Jaja was kidnapped from Igboland, possibly by the Aro Confederacy,[3] and sold into slavery.
